Help us Honor the Men and Women in Uniform from Moorpark.

Moorpark Post 502 of The American Legion at the request of local residents has undertaken the task of honoring those in uniform by recognizing their Service to Country. We will do so by displaying a Banner for each active duty member of the United States Armed Forces and placing those banners in strategic locations around the city. This program would be similar to the programs currently in Fillmore, Anaheim and Corona.

Our target date to begin displaying the Honor Banners is Veterans Day November 11, 2010. But first we need to generate funds in support of this Program. Wood Ranch BBQ & Grill has stepped up to help us with this project. And here's where you can play a part. On Tuesday, August 31st, 2010 between 4:00pm and 9:30pm a portion of the proceeds from your meal will be donated to the Moorpark Military Banner Program by Wood Ranch BBQ & Grill. To make this happen all you need do is bring the flyer and present it to your server when you order your meal and then sit back and enjoy. Wood Ranch BBQ and Grill is located at 540 West Los Angeles Avenue, Moorpark, CA.

Memorial Day, 2010

Over 150 members of the local community came together to pay tribute to veterans who have paid the ultimate sacrafice for the freedoms we enjoy today. Vietnam veteran Matt Valenzuela, USMC and member of American Legion Post 502, reminded those in attendance of the importance of the holiday and that we should remember that this day is about much more than BBQs and a 3-day weekend. Though all gave some, some gave all.

Below you will find a group photo of those veterans who attended the event. For a higher resolution photo (5.6 MB), click on the photograph below.
